This City, is who we are

Why have a farmers market?

Downtown Binghamton has a lot of great things. There are bars, art galleries, restaurants and beautiful river views. However, the city is lacking one service that is crucial to the health of Binghamton’s citizens, fresh local produce. Our mission is to remedy that problem by providing this food desert a much needed oasis every Friday from 12-5pm. Support our goal by visiting and telling your friends to visit too!

Our history

There has been a Farmers Market in Downtown Binghamton since as long as anyone can remember.  It has changed locations a few times and the days have changed once or twice.  But, generally speaking, it has been on Tuesdays and Fridays near the Court House for many years. The Market was created as a project of the Downtown Binghamton Business Association, a non-profit organization working to develop center city commerce. In 2005, the Downtown Binghamton Business Association,  formed a Farmers Market Committee chaired by then City Clerk Eric Denk. Eric then ran the farmers market for 12 years dedicating countless hours to make sure it ran smoothly. As of 2017, he passed the responsibility to Joseph Rigoroso who now seeks to expand and revitalize the market.
